Vintage Silk Sari Skirt Co-Op
I recently took part in an Enwrapture Vintage Indian wrap skirt co-op order and received my skirt a few weeks ago. I only got one because I wasn't sure it would fit or if I would like it. I LOVE it! I plan on living in these skirts this summer. The fabric is vintage silk sari material from India and it is sooo beautiful. I think they would be lovely to bellydance in. I've decided to run a co-op in order to get wholesale prices and so other people can share my new skirt love. Please sign up if you are interested!

$8.50-$12. Vintage Silk Sari Skirt Co-op, buying info in hereCollapse )

Amatuer Male Belly Dancer: Tahtil Shibbak
This is in reponse to all the positive feedback and sound critique I've had on here, loosened up the upper body trying to keep the poise in the arms and hand work, and more playfulness in my dance, my only issue is i'm only gently smiling but its not broad enough to catch the camera! I love this great song and I absolutely love love love doing baladi, it feels so good!

Amatuer Male Belly Dancer: Boos Shoof
Taking on the genuine critique from commentors who aren't simply vomitting generic condescensions, although a different style of bellydance to the last vid, worked on improving my hands and arms here... as Baladi should this dance is improvised, but with much rehearsing to get to know the subtleties of music and what steps and moves follow...

Greetings: A question
Greetings! Hurray for the board, and I apologize for posting rather than commenting first...but I've been out of belly for a while, and don't really feel qualified anymore, except to say that it is awesome to see a male bellydancer - go you, ababalond. :)

But in getting into it again, I am hoping to fix what I have known to be a major problem of mine: restless and wavy hands. I seem to subconsciously like wrist circles far far too much, because I can't seem to stop doing them when I'm not paying attention. The overall effect is one of my hands belonging to some other body... a very nervous and wiggly one.

What are some ways to balance placing proper emphasis on hand/arm work as well as having hands calmly place emphasis on other feats of belly (or hips, or head, etc)? Are there any particular resources you might recommend?

Many thanks.

Less than one month away!

Belle Raqs: 3 Hours of Dark Glamour
with JeniViva of NYC!

A Gothic glamour workshop for dancers and non-dancers alike!

You may have seen JeniViva’s appearances on the Gothic Bellydance videos. We are so pleased that she will be here teaching her style and makeup workshop on creating the mystery and magic of dark glamour.

Find out more here: http://www.aeprilschaile.com/performance/descent-2009

Also teaching at Descent II this year: Sarah Jezebel Wood!

Anyone who was at Rakkasah 2009 knows that Sarah kicked ass this year as a member of Solstice Ensemble. Sultry, Sophisticated and Dark is a challenging workshop in tribal fusion technique exploring drama, lust, sophistication and desire.

Find out more here: http://www.aeprilschaile.com/performance/descent-2009

A part of the proceeds from the workshops benefit the Salem YMCA’s Partnership in Youth program for at-risk youth.

Sultry, Sophisticated and Dark: 12 – 2PM
Belle Raqs: 2:30 – 5:30PM
Both workshops will be held at the Salem YMCA, 1 Sewall St., Salem, MA.

Don’t forget to buy tickets for the show, too! Last year’s was sold out – we had to turn many people away.

The workshops and the show are both VERY T accessible! The Salem Y and the First Universalist Society Sanctuary are both just a short walk from the Salem commuter rail MBTA station.

If you haven’t been to Witch City in October, you don’t know what you’re missing!
